SEATTLE, WA – In support of Lumana’s mission to Ghana this coming summer, Kaiso helped to sponsor their fundraiser held in Downtown Seattle. The event was packed with local professionals, entrepreneurs, and other supporters. The great showing was backed by music from Batholomew Komoah who performed on the gyil, a traditional Ghanaian xylophone. Funds went to help Ghanian small-medium enterprises access credit, and also enroll in business training, medical services, and technology.

Lumana Credit, founded in Seattle, operates on the basic concept microcredit; they give small loans of between $100-$500 US dollars to people in the developing world in an effort to eradicate poverty. However, our loans are not handouts. The people receiving these loans are extremely capable but cannot be serviced by traditional banks. Lumana loans help very poor households meet basic needs and protect against risks. The use of our financial services by low-income households is associated with improvements in household economic welfare and enterprise stability or growth.
